At present, Tech21 E.S. are involved in the following research programmes:
- The DVRC (Drilling Visualisation Research Consortium) based in Boulder Colorado is currently involved in research for 3D visualisation applications for drilling. Some of the areas this research has involved are: the best ways to view and correct for collision risk, combining drilling and geological uncertainty, sidetrack optimisation, survey programme optimisation and automatic optimisation of top hole layout to minimise collision risk. Our partners in this research are Terraspark, Agip, Exxon and Chevron.
- The TVD surveyor is a study of the potential of using multiple accelerometers in an inertial measurement tool during the trip out of hole to maximise TVD accuracy. Our partners in this research are TOTAL.
- The BHA behaviour analysis project. Tech21E.S. has developed a high speed finite element analysis algorithm for the study of BHA behaviour. We are building this into a comprehensive analysis program for stress analysis, sag correction, trend analysis and critical rotary speed all in one package. Our partners in this are Weatherford, APS, Geolink and Target Energy.
